Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement today after meeting with the Attorney General Elena Kagan, a nominee to the Supreme Court of the United States:
"My meeting today with the Attorney General confirmed to me that Kagan is the ideal candidate to replace Justice Stevens in the Supreme Court. She has a strong conviction that the Supreme Court should be a forum in which the rule of law is above all and one in which people from different social strata and experiences can have a fair hearing. "
"His credentials are impressive and understands the impact of the opinions of the Court on the lives of ordinary people in Nevada and across the country, which help it to play this position."
"After reviewing the record carefully and meet with her, I am convinced that Elena Kagan should receive bipartisan support as it did last year when he was confirmed as Attorney General. I will ensure that his confirmation process is expedited, fair and respectful. "
